I FOUND A NEW FAVORITE BOOK. This book was lent to me by a friend who knows how much I love historical fiction and oh my, I adored this book.
MY RATING: 5/5 stars
“What’s it about?” Good question.
This book deals with a girl named Andi, who is dealing with the grief of losing a younger brother and finds release through her music. Her typically-absentee father brings her along on a trip to Paris where she discovers the diary of a girl, Alexandrine, from the French Revolution. There are strange parallels between the two girls and Andi is transfixed by Alexandrine’s story and somehow the past and present merge together.
“What did you think of it?” Another good question.
BEAUTIFUL. MAGICAL. WOW OH WOW. This book is a wonderful masterpiece and so intelligently woven together. Immediately after finished it, I checked out if Jennifer Donnelly had written more books and I will definitely be reading them when I get the chance. It’s too early to call her my new favorite author but I really did enjoy Donnelly’s writing style. I’m so glad I read this as it is very moving and touching story.
